Any hobby counts. This includes activities such as painting, gardening, surfing, dancing, traveling, or whatever brings you joy.

Only one photo entry per member.

Photos must be original, taken or owned by you, the HOCU member.

Must be horizontal / landscape, JPG format, and high resolution (5 MB file size max).

Photos must be of favorite hobbies. If your photo includes identifiable people other than yourself, complete the model release form.

Include a short description of your photo (maximum one paragraph).

Who can enter?
Any HOCU member may enter. One photo entry per member, so make it your best shot.
What kind of photo are you looking for?
A photo of any hobby or activity lights you up. That could include surfing, paddling, gardening, cooking, playing the ukulele, hiking, fishing, painting, dancing, golfing, or any hobby or pastime that brings you joy. If it lights you up, we want to see it.
What are the photo requirements?
Photos must be original and taken or owned by you, in horizontal / landscape orientation, JPG format, and high resolution (at least 3 MB file size).
What if someone else appears in my photo?
If your photo includes identifiable people, you’ll need to complete the model release form so we have their permission to publish the image.
What do winners get?
Twelve winning photos plus one cover photo will be featured in HOCU’s 2027 calendar. Winning entries may also be displayed at HOCU branches, on the website, and across social media.
Do I keep the rights to my photo?
Yes. You retain the rights to your photograph, but by entering you grant HOCU permission to use it in marketing and publicity materials, newsletters, and social media.
